Good News..

It is great to hear that most of the parties involved have responded positively to the last note I included in the previous issue. It sounds as though Rochester is happy and content with the restoration of his marriage. As for both women involved, I hope that they can resolve whatever conflict they may still have with each other. Moreover, I feel as though I have turned into a neutral party and everyone at Victorian Gossip only wants the best for all of these individuals. I have turned into a marriage therapist rather than an editor of a famous gossip magazine, and with that I am turning a new leaf. I am happy that myself and my staff could have been there and were able to hear out each of the parties included in this controversy however, with the new year quickly approaching it is mandatory that we don't let situations like this take over our articles and inbox of letters ever again.

If there is anything I have learned as editor over the past few weeks, it's that it is important to take time to appreciate what each individual has to say as well as inform staff members on our team to make sure to evaluate each situation before publishing anything of substance.

From everyone here at Victorian Gossip to Rochester, Bertha and Jane we wish you all the very best and hope that you will find true happiness just remember to stay true to yourself and remember that being honest is always the best way to be.

Thank you Victorian Gossip for restoring my relationship with Jane and therefore my life. Our wedding was wonderful and we are happier than ever. Please know that I am forever in debt to this magazine for everything. At first I thought it was rubbish but it really did change my life for the better. I would like to donate money to the magazine to help others the way it has helped me. I will send a large sum, which I hope will be put to good use. I thank you again.

Wedding Bliss By: Chitchat Rumor

This may come as a surprise to you seeing that the pictures of Jane Eyre and Edward Rochester's wedding are published in Victorian Gossip. Despite the rumors that Jane and Edward were going to keep these photos sacred and secret, Jane just couldn't help but to boast about how beautiful she looked. Jane has grown up a lot since she met Rochester, but she still likes attention and wants everybody to feel bad for her.
The wedding was held outside and included a small ceremony. Jane and Edward had each other and that was all they needed to make their day as special as possible. Jane choose a different bouquet of flowers that many couples do not choose for their wedding ceremonies. However, Jane and Rochester are a unique couple so these flowers were of perfect choosing.
It is our job at Victorian Gossip to provide you with the latest news and photos despite popular belief. Jane is marrying the man of her dreams and is dressed in an elegant Elsa Schiaparelli dress, but the smirk on her face holds a different message. Throughout all of the stress and challenges that Jane and Rochester both faced, their loved prevailed and in the end married for true love. Both parties overcame their challenges and will now live happily ever after!!!
Come on readers, haven't you learned anything!! There is no such thing as happily ever after. Rochester and Jane will soon find out that marriage is not a happy, carefree thing. It takes a lot of work and compromise. The proper thing to say is that Jane and Rochester will live peacefully ever after. Congratulations Jane and Edward and good luck!! As for Bertha, well she wasn't so lucky!

A Letter to my Admirers:

"Reader, I married him".  Edward and I have found our way back into each others lives through Victorian Gossip.  When I read Rochester's confessions and apologies in the magazine, I realized that only a real man would divulge his darkest secrets in a tabloid magazine.  I was able to see how much Edward truly cared for me and wanted me to be his wife.

Edward and I are very happy and want our public to know that we were able to talk out our differences and concerns about his prior marriage and Bertha's recent suicide.  It is truly a tragic end for poor Bertha.

"My Edward and I, then, are happy: and the more so, because those we most love are happy likewise".  Edward and I would like to thank Victorian Gossip for restoring our relationship.  To you, we are forever grateful.

Much Needed Note from the Editor...

After coming back from a much needed vacation get-away, I was amazed to see how bombarded I was with letters regarding the controversy over the Rochester, Jane and Bertha. I think things have become quite out of hand and I definitely think that this situation must be rectified with nothing but the honest truth. All we are trying to do here at Victorian Gossip is give our readers the truth in every situation. Yes we can sit here and point fingers and harp on what she said and he said but, in all reality it is pointless and will get us nowhere.

I would love it if Rochester could finally get a word in edge-wise and let us know what's on his mind rather than just responding to what each of the women have to say. As editor, I would love to have Rochester explain his side to things if he is up to it. I understand there is much hostility and misunderstandings as well as confusion. I'd like to propose putting all of this behind us and moving forward. Perhaps our readers, staff and individuals included in this situation will learn something valuable and be able to move on at this point. We will be including other articles in our upcoming issues however, if anyone has any encouraging or positive words you may write to our magazine about those issues. As always, thank you for reading and we hope that you continue to enjoy our issues. We sincerely hope that we can overcome this obstacle while providing other fun articles, quizzes and horoscopes for you. Thank you.
Dear Victorian Gossip,

I have come to my wits end, living with what I have done is too hard and unbearable to live. I have hurt Jane to the point of no return and made my wife Bertha turn to suicide. I have given up on life and will suclude myself in the forest as punishment for my sins. As rich as I once was, I now have nothing to live for without Jane. I am becoming older and realize that life will never be the same, I will never see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Jane has given up on me and there is no way for me to win her back. I have just realized through this magazine that our love is no longer because the hurt Jane feels will never go away.

I would not mind being interviewed by Victorian Gossip if you are willing, for this magazine, as pathetic as it is, allowed me into Jane's heart and made me notice there is no hope for the future. If you are interested in hearing my side of the story please publish the anouncment in the next issue and I will contact you.

Dear Victorian Gossip...

So I took the quiz and it turns out I am an expert queen gossip because no one knows my situation better than I do. I can't believe people actually read this, it is appalling.

My beloved Jane, the pictures you submitted were beautiful. They took my breath away, the wonderful memories of us together by the fireplace and in the garden. I wish moments like this were not ripped away from us. I know you still blame me for all that has happened but I know we can work through this. I know you still love me as much as I love you. Look at these pictures and think about the new memories we could build on if you would just forgive me. Bertha is no longer in the picture and never really was for me anyways. The danger she put you in is unforgetable but know I will never let her hurt you. She is nothing to me and never was, we never shared the connection that you and I shared. Victorian Gossip should not be the only way I am allowed into your inner thoughts, not after all we have shared and been through. We owe each other more than this. Please Jane come back to me and mend my broken heart.
Rochester

To the Editor of Victorian Gossip

I have offered these pictures to you and your magazine Victorian Gossip. These following photos are ones I tried to keep close to my heart but I know they would be published in your magazine one way or another so I would rather be the person to release the pictures willingly. These pictures depict Rochester and I at our happiest but also my most naive state of mind. It is difficult for me to look at these photos considering what we have become due partly to the exploitation of our relationship through this magazine. How I wish things had worked out differently. I know that Rochester feels the same as I when I say these pictures make me long to be in Edward's arms once again.

My response to Victorian Gossip

Dear Editor,
I would like to say that I am very disappointed in the way your magazine has portrayed these unfortunate events. I believe that you favored Jane Eyre and her side of the story. You portrayed me as a crazy woman, and you have made Jane look like the victim. Rochester was shown as a confused soul, but he obviously does not love me anymore, and he should be with that husband stealer Jane. I have decided to take matters into my own hands, and there is nothing you can do about it. I hope you know that your magazine only forced me into this. I have no choice but to part with this world, and start my new life in heaven. And while I am at it, I might as well send Rochester to hell which is his rightful place. I hope Jane dies of a broken heart because that is what she deserves. Goodbye to everyone and thank you to Grace Poole, my only friend.
-Yours truly, Bertha Mason

Bertha Mason: A Response

Excuse me, but my own husband thinks I should rot in hell!! He will pay for this! As for the rumors, that I am depressed, angry, insane and violent, these are not all true. Yes, I am very angry at my husband and that tart, Jane, but I do not consider myself to be insane. I was hidden away for years by my husband, whom I trusted to care for me and love me. Yes, I have acted out in violence, but that was only because I was crying out for help! Hardly anyone knew that I even existed, so I needed to do something drastic to draw attention to myself. I started a fire in Rochester's room while he slept, but I only meant to scare him. I should have killed him though! Next time, he won't be so lucky!

As for Jane, she needs to stop pretending to be the victim. It is very sad that she is an orphan and has no family, but at least she had a home with Rochester. He is my husband and he cared more for her than he did for me, his own wife. I have no sympathy for her whatsoever. She was not locked inside the attic to rot away as everyone else lived a normal life. Rochester should have told Jane that he was married to me, but he failed to disclose this information. He is a snake and a liar! He is the one who should rot on hell for all the trouble and misery he has caused me! If it weren't for him, I would be living a normal life with my family. I wish I had never married him in the first place. It was all a mistake-we were both young and naive.

This is a warning to Rochester-he better watch his back, for he is in real danger! It said so in my horoscope.

Dear Chitchat Rumor,

It is true that when I was young, I lived with my aunt and cousins and was constantly treated badly.  I was isolated from the other children because I was apparently to unusual of a girl.  Sometimes when I was bad, my aunt would lock me in the "red room" where I would scream and cry until I was let out.  The red room was an extremely scary place for a young girl to be locked away in.  I often imagined ghosts and spirits taunting and attacking me while I was in that room.

It has been difficult for me to develop an interpersonal relationship with anybody based on the fact that I have never felt like I truly had my own place in a family.  My real family was kept a secret from me and when I was finally told about them, a sense of relief washed over me because I knew that I was not as different as everyone thought I was.

When I moved into Mr. Rochester's house I was hired as his nanny or governess.  I was to teach his young daughter arts, language, science and math.  Though she was quite the strong spirited little girl, she enjoyed my company for she was also isolated in her own home considering her father was constantly away or just hiding out somewhere in the house.

I remember when I first met Rochester I found him to be extremely cold and it was hard to have any sort of conversation with him.  After I came to his rescue by waking him up out of a deep sleep while the bed he slept in was on fire, he was extremely thankful for my bravery and became much more enjoyable to speak with and I started finding myself actually quite taken by Mr. Rochester.  I actually spent a lot of time drawing pictures of who Rochester would be attracted to and pictures of myself so I could compare the two.  I would find so many differences between the two women, I would end up trying to talk myself out of feeling anything emotional for him because I knew Rochester could never fall in love with a young woman like myself.

I do not think that I fell in love with Rochester based on the home he provided me considering I believe I worked very hard for my place in the house.  I fell in love with Rochester because I was able to have intelligent conversations with him.  I felt as if he completed my thoughts and I completed his.  Though he is much older than I am and much more worldly of a person, I feel as if he is my true other half and I his.

Dear Chitchat Rumor,

I don't know where you get your information but I feel like nothing in my life is personal anymore. This magazine has ruined me and continues to depict the horrible events of my past. I wish in some way that I could change the past, but I can't so stop punishing me for it. I have lost everything including my home, sight, dignity, and most importantly Jane. I still believe she will come back to me someday because I know she still feels the love in her heart as I do. I saw the picture of me Victorian Gossip published on page 35, now not only do I have to watch my back every time I go out in public but also in the privacy of my own home. I sat in the park yesterday only to be interupted by a woman wanting me to sign the magazine with the picture of me eating my dinner. I was told I was holding my fork the wrong way but I certainly don't remember that. I can't believe people pay for my aggony, I will pay them to take it off my hands. I assure you that you have not heard the last of me. Rochester

Behind the Scenes: The inside life revealed By: Chitchat Rumor

Many of us know Jane Eyre, Bertha Mason, and Edward Rochester on the surface. Much of their past is hidden and never really discussed. Jane Eyre was orphaned throughout her whole childhood and never really had a place to call home. She constantly felt a sense of alienation and loneliness. Throughout her childhood as well as her relationship with Edward Rochester she deals with cruel treatment and obeying demands. The unbearable treatment Jane's Aunt Reed and cousins put her through sent Eyre on a search for freedom. Jane attached herself to Rochester so quickly because he is the first person to have offered her a true place to call home. However, even when she met Rochester she had to still continue her search because she has had to live as Rochester's mistress. Jane in a sense is and will always be an orphan because she has no family and can never be her true self. While with Rochester she must always watch what she says and obey his every demand. Rochester clearly wears the pants in this relationship and Jane must bite her tongue, whether she agrees with him or not.

Edward Rochester also has secrets hidden about his past. Many do no know that Rochester married Bertha Mason at a young age and has been miserable ever since. The married couple put on a act for the first several years, but as soon as Jane Eyre became a part of their life, the truth has been slipping out. Rochester is also Eyre's employer so their relationship has been somewhat of a secret all along. Victorian Gossip readers you'll hear it here first; Rochester has become blind due to the fire that Bertha Mason set to his bed chamber. Rochester and Jane are trying to keep this out of the public eye, but as always Victorian Gossip will provide you with the newest and latest before anybody else.

Once a beautiful and wealthy woman, Bertha Mason has gone down hill since the news has hit the press. Ever since the truth about Jane and Rochester has leaked she has become very depressed, angry, insane, and violent. We do feel bad for Bertha, however, because she has been forced to live in a secret guarded room at Thornfield. Bertha has been dealing with the awful conditions that Rochester has been putting her through and has been living with very little food and water.

These Britain celebrities are not perfect and along with everybody else, they have something about their past they keep hidden. That's all for now folks, but you can be sure there is more to come. Be sure to take the quiz on page 34 to see how well you really know these Britain celebrities.

Dear Editor,

I have been reading your colums concerning my love life and am starting to feel you may know more about it then I do. I have been left in the dark because Jane will no longer give me the time of day. I love Jane and hope one day she will allow me back into her heart. The closest I have been to Jane, lately, is through this gossip magazine, which is highly pathetic. I buy every subscription in order to get into Jane's thoughts to feel her presence. I feel like love is no longer an option for me and I have no choice but to give up all hope. There is no light at the end of the tunnel for me. I cannot make a woman love me who despises every fiber of my being. Please Jane if you are reading this, know I am sorry and really wanted to marry you.

As for Bertha, she can rot in hell, for turning my life upside down. I wish she had burned in that fire along with all the memories of us together. She can try to sue me for everything I have but she will regret it, mark my words. I will show her who is boss even if it kills me (or her).

Please Victorian Gossip throw me some kind of lifeline or at least a sign of hope.
Sincerely,
Rochester

Bertha Mason: My Horoscope

Fellow readers, I have pasted my horoscope below. I read it in the new issue of Victorian Gossip, and I am greatly concerned . It says that my future is dark--what does that mean? Is something terrible going to happen to me or my despicable husband? He would deserve it, so I am not too worried about him. Also, I have done nothing wrong. The incident involving the small blaze in my husband's room was just meant to scare him, not to hurt him. But if I hear anything else about Jane, I may do something irresponsible.

Aries
(March 21-April 19)
(element: fire)

Your future is very dark, ominous, and scorching. You tend to hold grudges and act on impulse. When faced with a difficult situation, take a deep breath and don't do anything crazy or irrational. You may face a life or death situation--do not be afraid. Try to make good decisions in the next few weeks.

A response to "Hidden in the Attic" by Bertha Mason

I would like everyone to know that I am outraged at my husband's behavior! He had a lot of nerve to lock me in the attic the way he did! That is no way to treat your wife! I live a wretched life, with very little food or water and I am treated like a prisoner in my own home! Edward Rochester is a poor excuse for a man, and Jane Eyre should be ashamed of herself! She should know that adultery is wrong, but Edward must not have told her I even existed. How could he betray me like that?!

I knew something wasn't right though because my friend Grace Poole told me that a young girl was living at our home. She told me that she saw the pair together often. I could not have stopped the relationship since I am not allowed to leave the attic, but I tried very hard to end it. When I first heard that my despicable husband may have been cheating on me, I was furious--I escaped from my attic cell and tried to set Edward's bed chamber on fire. That wench Jane must have put it out though. I have decided that our marriage can no longer go on the way it is. I feel that it is too late to make it work, so it must end. I have been corresponding to my lawyers, and a divorce is very likely.

In response to "Hidden in the Attic" written by Jane Eyre

Text ColorI want to make it known to all readers that I was tricked by Edward Rochester! I was completely unaware that he had ever been married to Bertha Mason. I was shocked when he brought me up to the attic. Bertha seemed extremely uncomfortable in her living arrangements and I was appalled by the conditions. It is quite true that I am in love with Mr. Rochester but after an affair like this, I am not sure that I will be able to forgive him and forget about his first wife. I mean, isn't this one of the number one signs of a bad boyfriend, a man who can't even wait to get a divorce from his first wife before he proposes to the next? There were many indications that Edward was hiding something from me, the biggest being the mysterious fire in his bed chamber.
I am also quite shocked by all of the language used against me in the article written by Ms. Rumor I have never looked at my economic status as a hindrance in my life. The many years I spent at Gateshead Hall were what have shaped me into the profound young woman that many have come to know me as. I am not sure what is going to happen between Mr. Rochester and I, but I would like to make a public statement to Bertha Mason apologizing for letting a man like Edward Rochester ruin both her life and my own.

Hidden in the Attic by: Chitchat Rumor

This just in... the famous Jane Eyre has been caught in a love triangle! The happily married couple, Edward Rochester and Bertha Mason, are now seeking counseling and lawyers. Their marriage has hit the rocks since Roschester's hidden secret and mistress have been revealed. Jane Eyre the humble, young, and poor girl from Gateshed Hall has allegedly been tricked by Rochester claiming to have not ever been married. When Rochester and Jane tried to tie the knot, the truth came out. Jane is so young and naive that she tried to marry a man who is of age to be her father. Rochester has been accused of throwing Bertha into the attic and locking her away with very little food and water. We believe that this information might have changed Jane's decision to continue a relationship with Rochester. Due to the cruel conditions and extreme lifestyle in which Bertha has been living in, she has filled for a divorce and plans on suing him for all he has.
